Why Did You Choose to Become a Dentist?
As a child, Dr. Martinez was always interested in science. He studied Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Texas at Austin and participated in the SPEP summer program at the Baylor College of Dentistry as an undergraduate. During this time, he shadowed a dentist in the Dallas area and learned about the profession. In particular, its unique combination of artistry, science, and the ability to help people really spoke to him.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Prior to dental school, Dr. Martinez attended the University of Texas at Austin, Then, he attended Baylor College of Dentistry for his dental degree, where he was a member of the Hispanic Student Dental Association and Psi Omega Dental Fraternity. He also participated in the summer research program during his first year. Additionally, he has achieved certification in nitrous oxide and Level 1 Sedation. Today, he regularly participates in continuing education to keep his skills sharp, including advanced skills like dental sleep medicine, cosmetic dentistry, and implant dentistry.
He is currently involved in the following dental organizations:

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Martinez has a very close relationship with his mother and two brothers, all of whom live in Dallas. His hobbies outside of work include traveling to different countries (Norway and Ireland are his favorites!), sightseeing, and learning about other cultures. He also enjoys weightlifting on a regular basis. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is very important to him, especially in dentistry, which can be hard on the body.
